After her sister died, Danielle Mathis didn’t know if she would take the stage to do standup again. When she finally did, she realized the loss needed to be part of her set. But can her grief be funny??? Turns out, not only is it funny, but it’s often the most relatable part of her set to audiences everywhere. Danielle realized that incorporating grief into standup helped keep her sister’s memory alive and sought out others who also joked about the loss of loved ones.
