It’s standup. It’s crowd work. It’s emotional damage.
And it’s all happening live.

Comedy as a Career is a 6-week, in-person Tuesday program designed for comedians who want to understand — and take control of — the business side of stand-up.
This is not a joke-writing class or a performance workshop.
This program focuses on the systems, strategy, and decisions that turn comedy from a hobby into a sustainable career.
Over six weeks, students learn how the industry actually works: how comedians get booked, how money flows, how to build a brand without selling out, how to tour intelligently, and how to design a career that supports both creative growth and real life.
You’ll gain clarity around your direction, your positioning, and your next steps — instead of guessing, copying others, or burning out.
How comedians make money (tickets, door deals, guarantees, merch, and online income)
How booking and reputation actually work
Moving from host → feature → headliner strategically
Branding, audience-building, and ethical self-promotion
Touring logistics, negotiation, and burnout prevention
Long-term career planning and sustainability
This program is for comedians who:
Are serious about building a long-term career
Want structure, clarity, and real information
Are tired of guessing or spinning their wheels
Want to treat comedy like a profession, not just a passion
You do not need to be advanced — but you do need to be committed.
At the end of the six weeks, students will perform in a graduation showcase at Alex’s Underground Comedy Club, giving them the experience of performing in a real club environment and celebrating the completion of the program.
The graduation show serves as both a milestone and a moment of transition — from “student” to working comedian with a clearer path forward.
6 weeks
Saturdays, in-person
Small group format for discussion, questions, and real-world application
Taught by working comedians and producers actively building shows, tours, and venues
By the end of the program, students will leave with:
A clearer career direction
A basic understanding of comedy economics
A professional approach to booking and branding
A long-term strategy for growth and sustainability
A peer group and network within the comedy community
Comedy is art. But careers are built with structure.
Comedy as a Career exists to give comedians that structure.

Born in Gainesville, Florida, Eugene technically qualifies as a serial killer refugee. Just months before his birth, the Gainesville Ripper was arrested walking distance from his family’s home. His parents took that as a sign from God and immediately moved the family to a tiny Midwestern town with a population of 200 where Eugene’s family also happened to be the only Latinos.
Every summer, Eugene escaped that reality by visiting his grandparents in New York, where he was thrown straight into what he calls a Puerto Rican bootcamp: Spanish-only television, nonstop rice and beans, and chasing Abuelo’s roosters around the yard. Culture shock became a lifestyle.
Eugene has been performing since before he could walk, thanks to a mother who put him in child pageants. That early embarrassment sparked a lifelong addiction to the stage and a need for chaos. Over the years, Eugene has done just about everything you shouldn’t: MMA fighting, wrestling alligators, freestyle rapping, and making consistently questionable decisions. He then turned those stories into brutally honest, high-energy stand-up.
He is the co-creator and star of the viral series “Puerto Rican Bootcamp,” based on his real life, and has appeared on FOX’s hit show “The Floor” with Rob Lowe. Eugene has also acted in a Super Bowl commercial, freestyle rapped on radio stations across the country, and shared the stage with comedy heavyweights including Russell Peters, Chad Daniels, Bret Ernst, and Luis J. Gomez, among many others.
Eugene Torres tours comedy clubs, theaters, and military bases nationwide, delivering fast-paced storytelling, sharp crowd work, and the kind of set that makes audiences say, “There’s no way that actually happened…right?”

Her performances are best described as “PG-13 with R-rated side effects”—you've been warned. Ginger delivers gut-punch laughs with grandma-level wisdom and zero filter.

The human embodiment of that little dance white girls do when you give them food, Mike Eaton is a lovable oaf and sweaty comedian from Austin, TX. A storyteller at heart with riveting, hilarious tales about that time he almost died or that other time he also almost died - none surprisingly having to do with his own heart - Mike’s comedy feels like old denim. It’s comfortable, loose, relaxed. Yeah, it’s got some wear on it but that’s why you love it. There’s a reason Mike has opened for comedy staples like Are You Garbage & Louis CK and been featured on prominent festivals like Skankfest, SXSW, and the Nashville Comedy Festival- and that reason is obviously bribery. When this two time Austin Roast Battle champion is not taste-testing drugs or releasing his own flavor of ice cream (for real), he can be caught perpetually giggling on stages all across the country, co-commsioning the WRBL, or on a golf course with the Hole Hecklers. And yes, he’s even been on Kill Tony (5x).
Erik Lewin is a nationally touring stand-up comedian who performs at established comedy clubs around the country. Known for his sharp social observations and relatable storytelling, his stand-up comedy has been discussed on iHeartRadio and profiled in major publications including USA Today and LA Weekly.

He is also the author of over twenty hilarious true stories published in various magazines and journals, as well as a bestselling novel, Son of Influence, of which Kirkus Reviews wrote “hilarity ensues.”
Based in South Florida, Erik can be found doting on his lovely wife and furry pets.

Tag Mic is an interactive stand-up comedy mic where the audience gets to be part of the process. Comedians perform their jokes, and at the end of each set, audience members are invited to “tag” the jokes—offering alternate punchlines, twists, or ideas to help make them stronger.
It’s a fast-paced, collaborative show that pulls back the curtain on how jokes are built. Some tags hit, some miss, and some completely derail the room—in the best way possible.
Whether you’re a comic looking to sharpen material or an audience member who’s always thought, “I have a better punchline,” this show is for you.

When the lights go low and the filters come off, the real comedy comes out. Dark & Dirty is a late-night showcase where comedians push past polite, dig into the uncomfortable, and say the things you’re not supposed to laugh at—but will. Expect bold voices, twisted perspectives, and fearless sets that live right on the edge.
No safe topics. No apologies. Just raw, unfiltered stand-up for crowds who can handle it.
Late night. No limits. Saturday at 11:00PM.
🎰 OPEN MIC ROULETTE at Alex’s Underground Comedy Club
Every Monday at 8PM
Every week is a different mic.
Different rules. Different energy. Different chaos.
🎤 Comics don’t just perform — they spin the wheel.
Comics get 5 minutes.
Then… the panel and the audience are allowed to heckle them.
The twist?
The panel is wearing Meta smart glasses — so the heckling, reactions, and chaos are recorded from their POV the entire time.
It’s standup. It’s crowd work. It’s emotional damage.
And it’s all happening live.
Come watch comics survive feedback in real time.
The Amateur Showcase at Alex’s Underground Comedy Club is a weekly curated show designed to give newer comedians real stage time in front of a real audience.
Every Tuesday, selected comics perform their best 5–7 minute set in a proper comedy club environment — lights, sound, crowd, and all — so they can practice performing at a professional level while building confidence, tightening material, and learning what truly works.
This showcase is for comedians who are ready to take themselves seriously, test their strongest material, and grow in front of an engaged audience.
Every Thursday, Feature Showcase puts the spotlight on feature comedians—the comics you see consistently opening for headliners, touring clubs, and holding the room with confidence. These performers know how to work a crowd, keep momentum high, and deliver a full, polished set from start to finish.
This is a curated lineup in an intimate, underground space, giving you a chance to see strong feature acts up close before they move on to bigger rooms.
If you love stand-up and want to see comedians who are already trusted on professional shows, Thursday nights are for you.
This is the late-night open mic where comedy goes dark. Witching Hour is built for bold jokes, heavy subjects, and comics willing to push past the polite version of stand-up.
Expect sharp punchlines, dark humor, twisted perspectives, and material that thrives after midnight. The room is loose, the crowd is locked in, and the energy only works this late.
